The school band is a mandatory CCA (Co-Curricular Activity) in all secondary schools. The CCA Branch of the Ministry of Education organises the Central Judging of Concert Bands (Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and Junior Colleges) and Central Judging of Display Bands (Secondary Schools) in alternate years. For the Central Judging of Concert Bands this year, MOE has introduced a new award, “Gold with Honours” to recognise bands with exceptional high standards of performance. The central judging which provides the opportunity for bands to benchmark their playing standards will be awarded medallions based on their performance and the award system is as follows:
Gold with Honours: 85% and above
Gold: 80% to 84%
Silver: 70% to 79 %
Bronze: 60% to 69%
Certificate of Participation: 59% and below
Gold: 80% to 84%
Silver: 70% to 79 %
Bronze: 60% to 69%
Certificate of Participation: 59% and below
